ocr: Distribution of the Lyman-alpho intensity of Comet Hale-Bopp as recorded by the SWAN instrument on- board SOHO. From this map the water production rate could be defermined. It was found to be more than 200 tons per second, three times more than Comet Halley at its maximum. The size of the Hydrogen cloud is more than 70 millions of km, which made it the biggest object in the solar system in 1997.
